The Onset of A Panic Situation

Part 9

Jerry's mind whirled. Too many people were talking at once...

you can't kill her, jerry, she's our friend and she's joshua's friend, Stevie wailed.

            i know, stevie...

but if we do this, we prove to ourselves that we can, Alan said.

killing somebody isn't hard, alan, said Stevie.

            it is around here!

this is pointless. kill the bitch and let's go, Julie grumbled.

she's been good to us!, Stevie insisted.

she's been my friend... Jerry agreed.

who gives a fuck...! Alan griped.

and she tried to save your ass even when you were always mean to her. Jerry said.

             so?

and if we kill her, we kill naomi... added Stevie.

            naomi... Alan said, sounding lost.

...and christine and joshua and they're my friends, too.

            kill her already! Julie shouted.

            i won't let you!

stevie, stay out of this. Jerry said.

            i won't!!!

back off, you little brat, or i'll kill you first, said Julie.

you're not touching shit on this kid, Jerry and Alan said simultaneously.

does this mean we're on the same side? Jerry asked.

this means no bitch tells me what to do, Alan replied simply.

then let go of daina's neck!!! Stevie scream hysterically.

oh, damn!!!! Jerry and Alan exclaimed, fighting Julie for control while she laughed hysterically...

Jerry woke up to Daina lying on his knees. He grabbed her up in his arms and tried to see if she was breathing.

            She wasn't.

"Daina! Oh, damn, Daina, man, get up! Come on, man, don't be dead, please! I didn't mean it, come on, Dain, please!!!" He shook her violently, then slapped her in the face trying to revive her. "Don't make me use CPR on your shit, bitch!"

Daina stirred slightly, then looked up at him tiredly. "Oh, sure," she said. "Just find any old way to whip up on my shit, man..."

"Yesssss!" Jerry said, nearly forgetting she was in his lap as he jumped up. He whirled her around, still holding her, then danced around ecstatically until he collapsed with her on the sofa. "Damn, if I was straight, I'd kiss you!" he gasped. "You made it back to Planet Earth, babe! You're alive!"

"You gotta stop doing this ecstatic jumping around thing with me when I come back, dude," she said to him. "You're gonna make me throw up on you."

"Well, I'm just so glad to see you," he said, pinching her cheeks as if talking to a 4 year old.

"Oh, sto-oooop!" she groaned, and he laughed. "So, I take it you made it back safe, too," she replied, looking up at him to see if he was really himself.

"I did," he said, "and I brought Julie with me, sort of." Daina frowned and he added. "Actually, since I couldn't really get rid of her, I made her 3 years old so Stevie could be a good influence on her."

            "Stevie's okay, then?"

"And Alan, too. He says to tell Naomi he's sorry he died on her." Jerry replied.

"Hey, did you know that she and he have been..." Daina asked.

Jerry shrugged. "He's a 17-year-old ghost and he's straight; the crack of dawn ain't safe around the boy. If he wasn't hittin' your skins, he had to be hittin' somebody's."

"I guess that's it, then," Daina said. "Except for one thing..."

            "What?"

"Get the hell off me; you're killing me all over again!"

Jerry looked down and realized he had mostly collapsed on Daina, pinning her to the couch. "I thought the couch felt a little bumpy," he grinned, bouncing a little.

"Oh, fuck you Jerry." she gasped, shoving him away. "Fuck you very much."
