On
Falling In And Out Of Storyside...
Part
14
Jerry
woke up in bed and found himself hooked up to several machines,
obviously intended for life support. Everything around him was white, but he
had expected this. He sat up and looked around until he found what he was
looking for. He leaned over toward Daina's reclining
figure and shook her gently. "Daina," he said. "Wake up. We're
back."
It
took some doing, but he finally got her awake. "We're back. We made
it," she said with a small smile.
"Thank
God," Jerry added, laying back down again.
"God,
my head feels heavy," Daina groaned.
"Mine
just hurts like hell," said Jerry in the same tone.
"With
good reason," said Daina. "Head butting roller skates is bad."
There
was a pause, then Jerry asked, "Hey, Daina?"
"Yuh?"
"Could
I get some normal, nonquest-or-story-related sleep
now?"
"I
sure hope so, 'cause I'm gonna try to do the same
thing," she replied.
"Okay,
well, if I don't see you anytime soon, I'll see you in the morning," Jerry
murmured, eyes closed.
"It
is morning," Daina mumbled back.
"Y'know what I mean."
"Right. Go to sleep."
And
they did.
